MRC/ESRC Funded Research on the Role of Social Enterprise as a Public Health Initiative
WHAT WILL WE DO?
Over the next 5 years we will:
Develop and test ways to measure the impact and benefits of social enterprises on the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. This will result in a valuable and practical framework of measures. The measures will be co-created through our case study research with social enterprises and through sharing and testing of our ideas with stakeholders in the Knowledge Exchange Forum.
Create a new scientific understanding of the health and wellbeing impacts of social enterprise and lay the foundation for the world’s first centre of excellence in the field – based here in Scotland.
We will also...
Support the creation of an evidence base for social enterprise as a health and well-being intervention by applying and refining the evaluation framework that is co-created through the research with our case study partners and by testing this with social enterprises.
Enhance multi-disciplinary social science research in this area by involving a wide range of academic researchers and practitioners from across Scotland.
Communicate our approach, research and findings to a broad stakeholder audience of social enterprises, sector organisations, academics and health professionals through our Knowledge Exchange Forum.
